Job summary

WSP is seeking a Team Lead – Senior Cost Controller in Canada to lead a multidisciplinary cost control team across complex engineering projects. You will drive budgeting, forecasting and change management while ensuring alignment with client commitments and project schedules.

You will mentor teams, optimize resource allocation, and implement earned value management to deliver reliable project decisions. This role requires deep expertise in cost control and strong communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, project management, or a related field.
• 10–15 years of cost control experience in complex engineering environments.
• Deep expertise in EVM, project financial control, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and change management.
• Leading, developing, and allocating work across multidisciplinary cost control teams.

• Lead, engage, mentor, and develop a cost control team while fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.

• Oversee the quality of cost control deliverables, reviewing and approving outputs to support consistent, reliable project decisions.
• Manage project budgets and forecasts to safeguard financial health and improve visibility throughout the project lifecycle.
• Analyze cost and schedule variances, recommend corrective actions, and apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to optimize performance.
• Partner with project teams and stakeholders to track performance, communicate insights, and support timely decision-making.
• Manage changes and their financial impacts while ensuring compliance with processes, policies, and contractual requirements.
• Champion continuous improvement and operational excellence across the project controls practice.

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, project management, or a related field.
• 10 to 15 years of cost control experience in complex engineering project environments.
• Deep expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM), project financial control, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and change management.
• Demonstrated experience leading, developing, and allocating work across multidisciplinary cost control teams.
• A strong record of reviewing complex deliverables and translating project data into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Knowledge of AACE and PMI frameworks; related certifications are considered a strong asset.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across project, technical, commercial, and client teams.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $104,100 - $138,000

MB & ON: $95,000 - $130,800

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $94,100 - $124,900
