The City of Beaumont is seeking a hands-on Team Lead, Roads & Drainage to manage daily operations, lead staff, and coordinate contractors for transportation and stormwater infrastructure. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will ensure service delivery, safety, and high-quality public works.

You will plan inspections, review development plans, and collaborate with Engineering on capital and maintenance projects, while supporting winter operations, cemetery tasks, and emergency response.

Qualifications

• 4+ years municipal infrastructure/roads experience is required.
• 2+ years supervisory or leadership experience.
• Post-secondary education in civil-related field or equivalent.

Are you a hands-on leader with experience in roads, drainage, heavy equipment, and municipal operations? The City of Beaumont is seeking aTeam Lead, Roads & Drainage to lead the daily maintenance and operation of our transportation and stormwater infrastructure. Reporting to the Manager, Parks & Roads Operations, you will provide leadership to Roads & Drainage staff, coordinate contractors, oversee service delivery, support emergency response, and provide technical expertise on roads, drainage, and related infrastructure. What YOU’RE Responsible for:

Leading Roads & Drainage Operations

• Plan, schedule, assign, and monitor daily Roads & Drainage operations, including roads, trails, sidewalks, signage, line painting, stormwater, and drainage infrastructure
• Lead, coach, train, and support staff while coordinating contractors, equipment, materials, and resources to meet service levels
• Coordinate fleet and equipment maintenance and support the procurement of materials, supplies, and services

Infrastructure & Development Support

• Conduct field inspections and provide technical advice on road, drainage, stormwater, and infrastructure maintenance and construction
• Review development plans and engineering drawings and participate in inspections, proof rolls, CCC, FAC, and other infrastructure approval processes
• Work collaboratively with Engineering and other departments on development, capital, maintenance, and infrastructure renewal projects

Service Delivery & Community Engagement

• Investigate and respond to service requests from residents, contractors, and internal departments
• Provide professional customer service, including education, communication, and de-escalation when required
• Monitor service levels, maintain accurate records, and identify opportunities to improve operational processes and service delivery

Winter Operations, Emergencies & Special Events

• Monitor weather conditions and coordinate staffing, equipment, contractors, and resources to maintain service levels during winter operations
• Provide on-call support, respond to emergencies, and coordinate the mobilization of resources to address operational issues
• Coordinate Roads & Drainage support for special events and work with Municipal Enforcement, RCMP, Fire Services, and other City departments as required

Cemetery Operations

• Coordinate cemetery maintenance and burial operations, including grave excavation, burials, headstone and columbarium installations, and site remediation
• Coordinate with funeral homes, contractors, and internal staff to ensure burial requirements and timelines are met
• Maintain accurate cemetery records and ensure cemetery operations are completed safely and respectfully

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Lead the implementation of the City’s Health & Safety Program, including FLHAs, inspections, incident reporting, and equipment and vehicle inspections
• Ensure staff and contractors follow applicable safety legislation, policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
• Promote a strong safety culture through training, coaching, communication, and leading by example

What YOU Bring:

• A minimum of4 years of municipal experience related to infrastructure, roads, drainage, transportation, or a related field.
• A minimum of2 years of post-secondary educationin civil engineering technology, municipal construction, public works, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Previous supervisory, team leadership, or operational leadership experience.
• Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Q endorsement

• Experience operating and working with heavy equipment, including equipment such as loaders, graders, backhoes, skid steers, and excavators.
• Experience coordinating contractors, projects, maintenance activities, or municipal infrastructure work.
• Knowledge of municipal roads, stormwater infrastructure, drainage systems, construction practices, and infrastructure maintenance.
• Knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety legislation and other applicable safety regulations, standards, guidelines, and best practices.
• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, contractors, residents, consultants, and other City departments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and operational/database software.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, specifications, and engineering information.
• A strong commitment to customer service, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
