Job summary

DSV – Global Transport and Logistics in Saint-Laurent, QC is seeking an experienced Team Lead for Ocean Import. You will oversee processing, movement and monitoring of shipments, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory guidelines.

The role requires direct communication with customers, overseas offices and carriers, with leadership responsibilities for staff training and process updates as needed.

Qualifications

• Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study.
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a freight forwarding environment.
• CIFFA certificate, an asset.
• Dangerous Goods certification, an asset.

Responsibilities

• Daily management and coordination of shipments
• Direct desk level, day to day operations of the Operation Department
• Champion process and procedure to meet or exceed company KPI requirements
• Establish and coordinate schedules with carriers and tender shipments
• Prepare and publish reports as requested
• Mentor and train new staff from time to time
• Proactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solution
• Responsible for cost containment of shipments
• Evaluate shipments, consolidate loads, select most cost-effective method of delivery
• Daily Communication with customer on relevant issues and resolution
• Manage new account implementation from standard operating procedure to execution
• Ability to demonstrate deductive logic, problem solving and trouble shooting skills
• Effectively deal with any issues that arise within scope of responsibility
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines

The function of the Operations Team Lead is to oversee the processing of all shipments, as well as the movement and monitoring while in route. QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
