Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily processing and coordination of all shipments.
  • Direct desk-level, day-to-day operations of the Operations Department.
  • Champion processes to meet or exceed KPI requirements.
  • Coordinate schedules with carriers and tender shipments.
  • Prepare and publish reports as requested.
  • Mentor and train new staff as needed.
  • Identify problems and implement timely solutions.
  • Control shipment costs and evaluate delivery options.
  • Communicate with customers on relevant issues and resolutions.
  • Manage new account implementations from SOP to execution.

The function of the Operations Team Lead is to oversee the processing of all shipments, as well as the movement and monitoring while in route. Supervise the handling of shipments ensuring compliance with DSV’s Corporate guidelines as well as government regulations. This role will have direct communication with customers, overseas offices and carriers is required. This role mentors and trains new staff as well as update internal and external process changes from time to time.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Daily management and coordination of shipments
  • Direct desk level, day to day operations of the Operation Department
  • Champion process and procedure to meet or exceed company KPI requirements
  • Establish and coordinate schedules with carriers and tender shipments
  • Prepare and publish reports as requested
  • Mentor and train new staff from time to time
  • Proactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solution
  • Responsible for cost containment of shipments
  • Evaluate shipments, consolidate loads, select most cost-effective method of delivery
  • Daily Communication with customer on relevant issues and resolution
  • Manage new account implementation from standard operating procedure to execution
  • Ability to demonstrate deductive logic, problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Effectively deal with any issues that arise within scope of responsibility
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
  • Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a freight forwarding environment
  • CIFFA certificate, an asset
  • Dangerous Goods certification, an asset
