Job summary

TEEMA is seeking a Team Lead - Electrical Design in Cambridge, Ontario to guide hardware design projects and ensure all deliverables meet Eclipse quality, safety, and reliability standards.

You will coordinate electrical designs within the Engineering team, mentor staff, and drive milestone progress while maintaining ISO compliance. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Electrical, Systems, or Mechatronics, or Robotics Automation Technology.
  • Intermediate level experience with EPLAN and AutoCAD; proficient with MS Office.
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, and equipment integration.
  • 7+ years in the custom automation industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams and manage multiple projects under tight timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hardware design projects and ensure deliverables meet quality, reliability, and safety standards.
  • Review and approve designs within Eclipse Automation quality standards.
  • Coordinate project designs within the Electrical Engineering team.
  • Mentor staff and coach department for design practices.
  • Guide, organize, and prioritize staff to meet project delivery milestones.
  • Act as project management point-of-contact for assigned projects.
  • Ensure ISO standards are followed and proper man-hour records are kept.

Job Title: Team Lead - Electrical Design

Location: Cambridge, Ontario

What you will be doing:
  • Recognize problems, initiate action, assist in problem solving, and evaluate results on major hardware design issues prior to releasing drawings to manufacturing
  • Review and approve all project designs and that the designs meet the Eclipse high standards of quality, reliability, and safety
  • Develop and coordinate project designs within the Electrical Engineering team
  • Ensure concepts meet Eclipse Automation quality, safety, and reliability standards
  • Guide, direct, teach, assist, and advise department staff on practical design practices and standards
  • Assist resources in the department in their development through coaching and mentoring
  • Guide, organize, and coordinate assigned staff to prioritize project delivery
  • Lead the hardware design project team to ensure project contract deliverables are met
  • Work to specific project budgets and milestones provided by project management
  • Promote positive relations with partners, customers, vendors, and distributors
  • Liaise between all departments to ensure on time delivery of purchased items and on time delivery of Eclipse machinery and equipment
  • Promote environmentally and ergonomically safe conceptual product and/or processes to ensure safety of Eclipse personnel and the customer’s employees
  • Initiate and supervise the planning and development of project electrical and controls designs and order any required department materials
Project Execution
  • Act as the point-of-contact for the Project Management department for all for assigned projects
  • Update project completion with respect to weekly confirmation of critical milestones, labour hours, material budget, and percent complete on project
  • Ensure scheduled milestones are met and ... if a milestone is at risk
  • Update Open Issues List as required
  • Assist in performance reviews
  • Assume full responsibility for hardware design scope of assigned projects
  • Ensure that Company ISO Standards are followed
  • Ensure that project tasks are entered correctly and promptly for accurate man hour records for Project Management department
  • Respond to CARs issued to the department, as requested
What you must have:
  • Has successfully completed either a University Degree or College Diploma in Electrical, Systems, or Mechatronics, or Robotics Automation Technology
  • Must have intermediate level experience with EPLAN and AutoCAD and be proficient with MS Office
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, and integration of equipment would be an asse
  • 7+ years of experiencein thecustom automation industry
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage multiple projects

Salary/Rate Range: $58.00 - $63.00per hour
