Job Title: Equipment Efficiency Applications Engineer

Location: Cambridge, ON | On-site

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $95,000 - $120,000

The Position:

The Equipment Efficiency Applications Engineer ensures machines meet their promised performance from proposal through handover, safeguarding schedules, budgets, and contractual commitments. Acting as the technical guardian of equipment performance and risk, this role translates customer requirements into practical, data-driven solutions that align design intent with shop-floor realities. They will collaborate closely with Applications Engineering, engineering managers, and project leads, providing senior technical expertise to prevent, identify, and resolve issues that could threaten schedules, budgets, or contractual compliance.

The Equipment Efficiency Applications Engineer will foster cross-functional collaboration, lead effective change, and support continuous improvement initiatives that deliver measurable gains in efficiency and quality across the organization.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Review customer RFQ’s to identify risks and opportunities
  • Engage during the Proposal phase to assess technical feasibility, identify risk areas, and shape proposals with clear performance requirements and mitigation plans.
  • Support Applications Engineering and project teams by reviewing designs, performing risk assessments, and recommending robust solutions that improve reliability and manufacturability.
  • Validate buy-off criteria including OEE and Cycle time requirements, ensuring alignment to the Acceptance Test Plan (ATP) and production volumes provided by the customer.
  • Identify technical risks and their impact on the project & mitigate their effects
  • Partner with Project Managers to translate proposal-level requirements into executable plans during project kick-offs, ensuring technical acceptance criteria is understood
  • Attend selected internal design reviews and verify conformance to all critical technical requirements that are specified in contract are verified prior to team seeking final customer design approval (i.e. Outgoing part quality, cycle time, OEE, customer build spec, etc.)

Quality Standards & Compliance

  • Champion continuous improvement by applying Lean, Six Sigma, and related methodologies to identify and eliminate nonvalue-added activities
  • Monitor and report on key quality and efficiency metrics, using data to prioritize improvement opportunities, quantify cost savings, and track year-over-year performance gains.
  • Recognize problems, initiate action, assist in problem solving and evaluate results
  • Investigating process related quality issues, determining the underlying causes, and implementing corrective or preventive actions to prevent recurrence leveraging the NCR and CAR processes.
  • Perform internal audits to ensure compliance with the Eclipse Quality Management System

  • Recommend and administer policies and procedures to enhance operations which support continuous improvement initiatives

Travel:

  • Expectation of travel to Eclipse locations is less than 20% of time, however, may be exceeded in exceptional circumstances to meet organizational needs

What We're Looking For:
