The Grande Yellowhead Public School Division No.77 seeks a dynamic Teacher for Ecole Pine Grove Middle School in Edson, Alberta. This temporary 1.0 FTE position covers Secondary Mathematics and Science (Grades 6/7), with start date immediately or as agreed until June 29, 2027.

The successful candidate will apply student-centered instruction, use educational technology, and assess learning under the Teaching Quality Standard, while collaborating with parents and staff.

Qualifications

• Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.
• Experience with Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.
• Bachelor’s degree of Education.
• Experience teaching Life Skills/Intervention programming and Mathematics & Science is preferred.

Start Date : Immediately or upon mutually agreeable start date until June 29, 2027 or upon return of the incumbent whichever occurs sooner.

Hours of Work :1.0 FTE Monday-Friday

Ecole Pine Grove Middle School is located in Edson, Alberta, within the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. Ecole Pine Grove Middle School, serves around 330 students in grades 6-8.

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a collaborative person with proficiency in the use of educational technology and have an understanding of assessment for learning. The responsibilities include:

• Providing instruction to promote high quality student-centered learning.
• Designing and preparing lessons based on curriculum and following a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations and discussions.
• Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.
• Reviewing and evaluating each student's performance, knowledge and skills and meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines.
• Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.
• Developing constructive relationships with parents.
• Modelling commitment to professional development.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal to support the effective operation of the school.

The preferred candidate should have experience in secondary school Life Skills/Intervention Programming as well as Mathematics & Science; however, assignment flexibility may be considered based on the candidate’s skills and qualifications.

Requirements

The successful candidate will:

• Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.
• Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree of Education.
• Additional experience teaching Social Studies will be considered an asset.
