Job summary

Grande Yellowhead Public School Division No.77 invites applications for a Teacher at Grand Trunk School, Evansburg, AB. This is a temporary, full-time Grade 4 teaching position commencing September 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027 (or until the incumbent returns).

The successful candidate will hold an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible, have a Bachelor’s degree of Education, and implement Teaching Quality Standard with literacy infusion across the curriculum.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction for high quality student-centered learning.

• Foster inclusive educational practices to support all learners.
• Review student performance and meet reporting/assessment deadlines.
• Adhere to provincial legislation, board policy and division procedures.

Job description

Applications are invited for the position of:
Teacher at Grand Trunk School

Position: Teacher - Grade 4, Temporary

Location: Grand Trunk School - Evansburg, AB

Start Date: Duties to commence September 1, 2026 until June 30, 2027 or upon return of the incumbent whichever occurs sooner.

Hours of Work:1.0 FTE Monday-Friday

The competition will remain open until suitable candidate found.

Located in Evansburg, Alberta, just one hour west of Edmonton, Grand Trunk School is a fully modernized K-12 facility within the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. Serving approximately 400 students,this revitalized campus is dedicated to providing an inclusive, high-quality educational experience in a supportive environment tailored to the success of every learner.

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a collaborative person with proficiency in the use of educational technology and have an understanding of assessment for learning. The responsibilities include:

• Providing instruction to promote high quality student-centered learning.
• Designing and preparing lessons based on curriculum and following a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations and discussions.
• Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.
• Reviewing and evaluating each student's performance, knowledge and skills and meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines.
• Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.
• Developing constructive relationships with parents.
• Modelling commitment to professional development.
  

The successful candidate will:

• Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.
• Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree of Education.
