Job summary

Rural Roads Health Services (RRHS) is seeking a Ward Clerk for the Emergency Department at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital. This temporary contract position is based in Tillsonburg, Ontario, with duties including front-line support, patient throughput, and coordination of clinical communications.

The ideal candidate will have an OSSD or equivalent, a Medical Office Assistant certificate, Medical Terminology, and a current BLS.

Qualifications

• OSSD or equivalent acceptable to the hospital.
• Medical Office Assistant (1 year program certificate) or equivalent acceptable to the hospital.
• Medical Terminology is required.
• Current Basic Life Support Certificate is required.
• Ward Clerk experience and Cerner experience are assets.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; privacy protection.
• Ability to attend work regularly.

Job description

Rural Roads Health Services (RRHS) is actively seeking applicants for a Ward Clerk position in the Emergency Department.

The primary location for this position is: Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital

The duration of this temporary contract would be until approximately January 14, 2027 or sooner, as determined by RRHS

Qualifications Required:

• Ontario Secondary School Diplomas (OSSD) or equivalent acceptable to the hospital.
• Medical Office Assistant (1 year program certificate) or equivalent acceptable to the hospital.
• Medical Terminology is required.
• Current Basic Life Support Certificate is required.
• Previous Ward Clerk experience is considered an asset.
• Previous experience with Cerner is considered an asset.
• Proven ability to interact and communicate with team members, physicians, patients, visitors and volunteers.
• Strong organizational and computer skills are required.
• Strong communications skills, both written and verbal are required.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.

Other pertinent conditions:

• Salary per the UNIFOR collective agreement ($29.73 per hour to $30.32 per hour)

Must be available to work all shifts as required, which may include; weekends, statutory holidays, days, evenings and night shifts. Hours are subject to change based on operation needs of the hospital.
