Job summary

Rural Roads Health Services (RRHS) is actively seeking a Registered Practical Nurse for the Medical Surgical Department at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital. This temporary contract runs through March 2028, with rotation across all shifts as needed.

The successful candidate will hold a current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, have hospital and emergency nursing experience, and demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• RPN with current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum of two years hospital nursing experience.
• Two years emergency nursing experience preferred.
• Current B.L.S. certificate.
• Medication administration course completed.
• Medication administration experience preferred.
• Strong patient assessment, intervention and evaluation skills.
• Willingness to rotate through full-time shifts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to manage time and prioritize patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a busy Medical Surgical department.
• Participate in shift rotations including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to plan and evaluate care.

Rural Roads Health Services (RRHS) is actively seeking applicants for a Registered Practical Nurse position in the Medical Surgical Department.

The primary location for this position is: Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital

The duration of this temporary contract would be approximately until March 2028, or sooner as determined by RRHS

Qualifications Required:

• Registered Practical Nurse with current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience within a hospital environment is required
• Minimum of two (2) years of emergency nursing experience is preferred
• Must possess current B.L.S. certificate
• Medication administration course completed.
• Medication administration experience preferred
• Well-developed Patient Assessment, Intervention and Evaluation skills.
• Ability to fulfil requirements of full-time shift rotation
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize patient care needs.
• Demonstrated ability to function productively in a very demanding environment.
• Demonstrated ability to perform duties independently.
• Demonstrated ability to function productively as a team member in an interdisciplinary setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge in the usage of various programs such as Cerner, Powerchart and Microsoft Office.
• Skilled with the interaction of patients and families to provide patient focused, goal oriented care.
• Ability to demonstrate a commitment to Privacy and Confidentiality.
• Excellent attendance record and work ethics in previous positions.
• Proven experience working in a fast paced environment.
• Able to manage multiple competing priorities.
• Strong communication skills with a patient centered focus.

Other pertinent conditions:

• Salary per the UNIFOR collective agreement ($39.50 per hour to $40.25 per hour)

Must be available to work all shifts as required, which may include; weekends, statutory holidays, days, evenings and night shifts. Hours are subject to change based on operation needs of the hospital.
