City of Hamilton is seeking a Tax Registration Officer to support the Tax Billings & Collections function. The role involves clerical and administrative duties related to tax registration and tax sale processes, negotiating payment plans, conducting title searches, and registering liens under the Municipal Act.

You will work with the Legal Division and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and timely processing. Strong knowledge of Teraview and excellent communication skills are essential.

Qualificações

• College diploma in business accounting/financial field or related
• Strong Teraview knowledge and ability to search titles and register documents
• Municipal tax legislation understanding and tax collection experience preferred
• Excellent Word/Excel skills and data manipulation ability
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team with good time management

Responsabilidades

• Assist in tax registration and tax sale processes under the Tax Billings & Collections Administrator
• Negotiate payment plans and monitor arrangements with taxpayers
• Conduct title searches and prepare documents for registration in Teraview
• Prepare and mail notices and by-laws under Municipal/Provincial guidelines
• Coordinate with legal division, MPAC, and other stakeholders as needed
• Provide guidance to front line staff on tax registration and arrears processes
• Assist with tax sales activities and other duties related to tax collection
