- Review financial statements, corporate tax returns, personal tax returns, T5013 Partnership Returns, T3 Trust Returns, T4 / T4A / NR4 / T5 Information Slips, T5001 Tax Shelter Slips, GST and EHT Returns, ETD calculations, WSIB calculations.
- Review of client engagements files.
- Respond to information requests from clients and tax authorities.
- Schedule team members for engagements, including preparing long-range schedule and updating current schedule.
- Develop course of action, including coordination of start dates, planning and completion of engagements.
- Assist Associates and Senior Associates in planning engagements, preparing budgets, including assessing risk, suggesting procedures and guidance regarding approach.
- Communicate engagement issues to relevant team members.
- Communicate with clients with respect to all aspects of the engagement such as, documentation requirements, timing, tax balance owing, and billing.
- Supervise and monitor fieldwork, including guidance on executing audit procedures, dealing with problems, and technical assistance.
- Train and develop Associates, Senior Associates and Co-op students.
- Conduct annual performance review with team.
- Review file timelines and draft invoices for billing.
Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.
- 1-2 years of experience managing a team of Professionals within the Public Accounting industry.
- Experience with T1, T2, T3 and other tax forms mandatory.
- Strong technical background in Canadian Income Tax.
- Experience with CaseWare, and CCH (Tax Prep) considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to take initiative and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment characterized by changing priorities.
- Experience using Microsoft Suite : Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
