Job summary

BDO Canada seeks a Manager, Tax to lead the Personal Tax Centre of Excellence within the Personal Debt Solutions team across Canada. This leadership role oversees the delivery of high-quality personal tax services and contributes hands-on tax work and file management alongside strategic direction.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, organizational capability, and deep personal tax knowledge, with experience guiding staff and maintaining client-focused service standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of tax preparation experience, including self-employed tax returns and CRA processes relating to T1s, tax refunds, tax offsets, GST/HST returns.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a hands-on role in day-to-day tax operations, including completing tax work, managing files, and supporting client deliverables while leading the team.
• Coordinate and distribute workload across the teams, monitoring progress and ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Partner with Team Leaders to ensure compliance with organizational standards and industry best practices.
• Provide guidance and support in resolving complex client and CRA concerns in a professional and timely manner.
• Clearly communicate performance expectations, priorities, and operational objectives to team members.
• Monitor team productivity and performance to ensure established service levels, quality standards, and individual performance metrics are consistently achieved.
• Identify performance gaps and collaborate with Team Leaders to develop and implement effective resolution and improvement plans.
• Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with quality assurance standards.
• Coach, mentor, and support team members in their professional growth, skill development, and subject matter expertise.
