Position Overview:

Peakhill Capital is seeking a self-motivated, Tax Administrator to join our expanding team in Calgary, Alberta. The focus of this role will be loan asset management, where the candidate will be responsible for managing loan servicing, tax administration and ensuring smooth administrative operations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, capable of working both independently and as part of a team. The Tax Administrator is responsible for functions relating to the collection and processing of tax revenue. The Tax Administrator key responsibilities include pre-authorized payment plan administration; preparing and; generating and preparing of tax billing cycles; processing tax payments; monitoring and following up on major collection of accounts; liaising with the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation. Provides customer service to any property tax matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loan Servicing & Administrative Support:
  • Monitor the tax inbox daily and ensure timely responses to all emails.
  • Monitor property tax accounts and complete reconciliation procedures.
  • Review tax certificates and monthly payments and set up loans on our lender-paid program.
  • Coordinate with municipalities across Canada for various processes.
  • Prepare remittance reports for the payment of property taxes to municipal tax authorities.
  • Rebalance and recalculate tax reserves annually.
  • Generate statements for borrowers, including Welcome Letters and Amortization Schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records and update systems with loan-related changes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Loan Asset Management
  • Coordinates and ensures municipality’s assessment base is up to date and maximizes tax revenues and minimize likelihood of loans going in arrears/ default
  • Administers assessment changes annually

Customer & Investor Support:

  • Provide customer service to borrowers, answering inquiries specifically regarding property taxes.
  • Collaborate with team members on reporting and assist with ad hoc projects.
  • Monitor tax arrears and engage with borrowers to resolve any issues.
  • Participate in testing new systems and software.

Loan Fund Monitoring & Document Management:

  • Conduct thorough checks on newly funded loans, ensuring all sections are completed.
  • Assist in translating documents between French and English as necessary.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • University/College degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1 years of experience in finance, accounting, or the mortgage industry.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Mortgage Industry is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Familiarity with Internet and Email Applications (Outlook).
  • Computer programming knowledge is a benefit.
