Job summary

The Arc Carroll County offers a Direct Support Professional (DSP) role in our Community Living Department. You will work in a small residential setting, assisting residents with life skills, personal care, and basic household tasks in Taneytown, MD.

We provide a full benefits package, 403(b), PTO, and opportunities for DSP Certification program bonuses. The position is on-site with a weekend differential of $2.00/hr for eligible shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver’s license with no more than 2 points.
• Intermediate computer and keyboarding skills; ability to learn new systems quickly.

Responsibilities

• Support residents with life skills and household tasks (meal planning, laundry, light housekeeping).
• Assist with personal care and administer medications as needed.
• Provide transportation as required.
• Work as part of a team in a small residential home setting.
• Support individuals toward their daily goals within Community Living.

We are thrilled to announce a rewarding position as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in our Community Living Department. Our Community Living Department focuses on creating inclusive and supportive residential environments where individuals can thrive and achieve their highest potential.

DSP RATE: $20.07/hr with a $2.00 differential for weekends

Available Schedule:

• Wednesday - Thursday 10p-8a (Taneytown)
• Thursday - Friday 10p-8a (Taneytown)
• Friday 3p-9p (Westminster)
• Saturday 3p-9p (Taneytown)
• Sunday 9a-1p (Westminster)

What does a DSP in Community Living do? You will support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their individual pursuit of a fulfilling life by working as part of a team in a small residential home setting. You will support residents with life skills and household tasks such as meal planning and preparation, laundry, and light housework; as well as assist with personal care, administer medications, and provide transportation as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with no more than 2 current points on record.
• Intermediate computer and keyboarding skills; ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Clean drug screen and criminal record (The Arc provides programs, services, and direct care to vulnerable adults).
• Completion of CPR, First Aid, Certified Medication Technician, and other trainings mandated by the Developmental Disabilities Administration and The Arc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS (DSPs):

• Ability to lift/manipulate at least 50 pounds frequently with ability to lift, carry and/or exert force in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally.
• Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing required: Including lifting a wheelchair and repositioning an individual.
• Ability to transfer individual from a chair to vehicle, bed to chair. Ability to position individual on a sling or Royer lift. Ability to physically secure individual in a wheelchair to the van with tie-downs.
