The Arc Carroll County is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for its Community Living Department in Taneytown, MD. You will work as part of a team in a small residential home, helping residents with daily tasks, life skills, and personal care, while promoting independence and inclusion.

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with no more than 2 points on record.
• Clean drug screen and criminal record.
• CPR, First Aid, Certified Medication Technician and other required trainings must be completed.

DSP RATE

$20.07/hr with a $2.00 differential for weekends

• Sunday 3:00P-9:00P
• Tuesday 3:00P-9:00P
• Wednesday 3:00P-9:00P
• Friday 4:00P-9:00P
• Saturday 3:00P-10:00P

What does a DSP in Community Living do?

You will support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their individual pursuit of a fulfilling life by working as part of a team in a small residential home setting. You will support residents with life skills and household tasks such as meal planning and preparation, laundry, and light housework; as well as assist with personal care, administer medications, and provide transportation as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with no more than 2 current points on record.
• Intermediate computer and keyboarding skills; ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Clean drug screen and criminal record (The Arc provides programs, services, and direct care to vulnerable adults).
• Completion of CPR, First Aid, Certified Medication Technician, and other trainings mandated by the Developmental Disabilities Administration and The Arc.

Physical Requirements for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)

• Ability to lift/manipulate at least 50 pounds frequently with ability to lift, carry and/or exert force in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally.
• Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing required: Including lifting a wheelchair and repositioning an individual.
• Ability to transfer individual from a chair to vehicle, bed to chair. Ability to position individual on a sling or Royer lift. Ability to physically secure individual in a wheelchair to the van with tie-downs.
