Job summary

Blackbird Security in Vernon, BC is seeking Tactical Security Guards to protect clients, deter theft, and deliver excellent customer service in retail environments.

The ideal candidate holds a valid Security License, AST certification is a plus, and prior experience with arrests and detentions. You must be able to patrol, confront suspected shoplifters, escort trespassers, document incidents, and coordinate with law enforcement when needed.

Qualifications

• A valid Security License is required.
• AST Certification is an asset.
• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifting.
• Previous security experience in a retail environment.
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to attend meetings and improve skills.
• Ability to work without close supervision.
• Keen interest in asset protection and crime prevention.

Responsibilities

• Prevent shoplifter theft in a retail environment while providing customer service to clients, patrons and customers.
• Patrol store aisles, monitor customers, and watch security camera footage.
• Confront individuals you suspect of theft, who have unpaid merchandise.
• Escort trespassers out of the client premises.
• Perform arrests, detainments, and recover unpaid merchandise.
• Complete required documentation for security incidents such as theft and violations.
• Escalate situation to law enforcement as required.
• Respond to emergency situations appropriately in a timely manner.

What You Will Do
