Job summary

Blackbird Security Inc. in Halifax, NS is seeking Retail Security Guards to establish a strong security presence, deter theft, monitor for unpaid merchandise, and document incidents.

You will observe premises, control access, respond to emergencies, provide customer service, and escalate to law enforcement when required. Having Prior security experience in a retail environment and strong communication skills will help you succeed.

Qualifications

• A keen interest in asset protection.
• Willing to stand for the duration of the shift.
• Previous security experience in a retail environment is preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to attend meetings and improve skills’
• Ability to work without close supervision.
• Must be willing and comfortable to follow site protocol to prevent theft.
• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifters is an asset.
• Use of Force Certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Establish a strong security presence to deter crime and theft
• Identify, monitor and approach subjects who may have unpaid merchandise
• Document theft and other security violations
• Observe the premises, provide access control and respond to emergency situations in an appropriate and timely manner
• Perform safety and security duties with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity
• Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents
• Identify potential security risks and respond accordingly
• Provide excellent customer service to our clients, customers and patrons
• Respond to emergencies and elevate to law enforcement agencies as required
