Job Description

Be part of a rewarding career ensuring safety and security within our Healthcare sites. As a Tactical Healthcare Security Officer, you will respond to alarms, emergency requests, and use your verbal de-escalation skills to resolve incidents in the Emergency Department. Maintain confidentiality, provide excellent customer service, and stay professional at all times.

Responsibilities include :

• Writing reports and investigating routine incidents
• Responding to coded emergencies efficiently
• Being physically fit to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods (up to 3-4 hours)
• Monitoring security concerns and escalating issues
• Developing security plans for high-risk patients
• Supporting staff, patients, and visitors
• Using verbal de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts
• Supporting patient watch guards
• Collaborating with law enforcement and emergency services
• Ensuring safety within the Emergency Department
• Assisting with patient restraints as needed
• Adhering to hospital policies and procedures
• Monitoring visitors and performing ID checks
• Responding professionally to emergencies
• Reporting suspicious activities and incidents
• Patrolling the facility regularly

Ideal Candidate

• Minimum 1-2 years of security experience
• Diploma in Justice Studies or Police Foundations (asset)
• Comfortable standing for long periods
• Valid Standard First Aid / CPR certification
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Proficient in English (oral and written)

All officers must hold a valid Nova Scotia Security License.
