We are recruiting Tactical Healthcare Security Officers for Yarmouth Regional Hospital. *You must be located in the area; out-of-area applications will not be accepted.*

Job Description

Be part of a rewarding career ensuring safety and security within our Healthcare sites. As a Tactical Healthcare Security Officer, you will respond to alarms, emergency requests, and use your verbal de-escalation skills to resolve incidents in the Emergency Department. Maintain confidentiality, provide excellent customer service, and stay professional at all times.

Responsibilities include:

1. Writing reports and investigating routine incidents
2. Responding to coded emergencies efficiently
3. Providing excellent customer service, even under stress
4. Being physically fit to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods (up to 3-4 hours)
5. Monitoring security concerns and escalating issues
6. Developing security plans for high-risk patients
7. Supporting staff, patients, and visitors
8. Using verbal de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts
9. Supporting patient watch guards
10. Collaborating with law enforcement and emergency services
11. Ensuring safety within the Emergency Department
12. Assisting with patient restraints as needed
13. Adhering to hospital policies and procedures
14. Monitoring visitors and performing ID checks
15. Responding professionally to emergencies
16. Reporting suspicious activities and incidents
17. Patrolling the facility regularly

Ideal Candidate

• Minimum 1-2 years of security experience
• Diploma in Justice Studies or Police Foundations (asset)
• Comfortable standing for long periods
• Valid Standard First Aid/CPR certification
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Proficient in English (oral and written)

All officers must hold a valid Nova Scotia Security License.

Education & Certification

• High School Diploma or GED
• Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
