Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety and assurance activities from concept through design, verification, validation, operation and change management.
  • Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments; develop safety arguments.
  • Allocate, implement and verify safety requirements across the system lifecycle.
  • Support system design reviews to embed safety requirements in architectures and interfaces.
  • Prepare safety cases, assurance cases, and compliance evidence for reviews.
  • Coordinate verification and validation activities related to safety requirements and risk controls.
  • Assess design changes, incidents, and non-conformances for safety impact.
  • Support certification, regulatory submissions and customer assurance activities where required.
  • Facilitate safety workshops and cross-functional risk reviews with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and the development of safety processes, methods, and tools.
  • Support Hazard Log details and workshops for C/U and SRS.

Context

We are seeking aSystems Safety Specialist (Systems Assurance)to support the development, integration, and assurance of safe, reliable, and compliant systems across the full lifecycle. This role is responsible for identifying hazards, assessing risks, defining safety requirements, and providing independent assurance that systems meet applicable safety, regulatory, and operational standards.

The ideal candidate combines strong systems engineering capability with practical experience in safety assurance, risk management, and compliance within complex, safety-critical environments.

Missions/Main Duties

TheSystems Safety Specialistwill lead and support safety and assurance activities from concept through design, verification, validation, operation, and change management. The role includes conducting hazard identification and risk assessments, developing safety arguments, and ensuring that safety requirements are properly allocated, implemented, and verified.

This person will work closely with engineering, operations, quality, project management, and regulatory stakeholders to embed safety principles into system development and delivery. They will also contribute to assurance planning, audits, reviews, and governance processes to confirm that systems operate within acceptable risk tolerances.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain system safety and assurance plans aligned with project, customer, and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform hazard analyses such as PHA, FHA, FMEA, FTA, HAZOP, bowtie analysis, or similar techniques as appropriate.

  • Identify, classify, and track hazards through to closure, ensuring effective mitigations are defined and implemented.

  • Derive and manage safety requirements and ensure traceability across the system lifecycle.

  • Support system design reviews to ensure safety requirements are embedded in architectures, interfaces, and operational concepts.

  • Prepare safety cases, assurance cases, compliance evidence, and supporting documentation for internal and external review.

  • Assess design changes, deviations, incidents, and non-conformances for safety impact.
