As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project, and we are hiring for hundreds of roles. The GO Expansion scope includes: new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications, digital systems, maintenance, and more.

Purpose of the Role

• Apply the EMC, E&B, and corrosion relevant standards in AC railways.
• Define compliant EMC and E&B activities for the project phase.
• Support designers in implementing EMC and E&B rules and principles.
• Assist the Technical Project Manager with EMC, E&B, and corrosion expertise.
• Identify technical/project risks in EMC and E&B fields, assess financial provisions, and propose design mitigations.
• Define and conduct on-site testing in coordination with T&C and operations management teams.
• Support the Quality team in verifying proper implementation of EMC and E&B rules and principles.
• Specify testing requirements to suppliers and verify FAT conformity.

Educational Requirements

• University Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer of Ontario (P.Eng) or in the process of obtaining it.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering/technical functions related to EMC and Earthing & Bonding.
• Experience in AC railway systems (3-5 years).
• Knowledge of EMC, E&B, electrical distribution (HV, LV, Traction), stray current, lightning, specification, and testing.
• Familiarity with railway systems, operating requirements, and available equipment.
• Knowledge of signalling, telecommunication, power supply, and overhead catenary systems is preferred.
• Understanding of the rail environment and engineering practices.
• Knowledge of international standards.
• Fluent in English.
• Strong coordination and communication skills.
