Job summary

Algonquin College seeks a System Administrator Level 3 to manage enterprise backup, recovery and infrastructure services. The role installs and maintains backup platforms, servers, virtualization and storage, performs recoveries, and supports lifecycle changes with strong ITSM practices.

Qualifications include a 3-year IT diploma/degree, ITIL4 training, and hands-on experience with Windows servers and enterprise backup tools. Hybrid work is eligible under policy.

Job Description:

The System Administrator Level 3 administers and supports the College’s enterprise backup, recovery and infrastructure services. This position installs, configures, monitors, maintains, secures and troubleshoots backup platforms, servers, virtualization and storage technologies; performs and validates recoveries; supports lifecycle changes; and provides technical guidance and documentation within established College standards and change-management processes.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum three (3) year diploma/degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Technology, Information Technology or a related discipline, with relevant study in infrastructure, backup, recovery or data protection; ITIL4 Foundation or equivalent IT Service Management training; Enterprise backup and recovery administration training, including Commvault, Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, Azure Backup, or equivalent enterprise backup and data protection platforms; Minimum three (3) years of experience administering Microsoft Windows servers and enterprise infrastructure in a large, complex environment, including:

• enterprise backup, recovery, retention and recovery testing;
• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and authentication services;
• virtualization and storage technologies;
• server configuration, troubleshooting and systems integration;
• application-aware backup and recovery;
• enterprise networking concepts, including TCP/IP.
