Job summary

Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound is seeking a part-time Switchboard Operator to answer and direct incoming calls and support paging services across hospital sites.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work all shifts, 24/7, and basic Word proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and relevant business office experience and/or equivalent business education.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Patient-service oriented.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Availability to work all shifts.
• Experience working on a switchboard preferred.
• Typing speed of 30 wpm (to be tested).
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Answer and direct incoming telephone calls to Brightshores hospitals.
• Perform paging services (overhead and Spok Messenger).
• Monitor alarms and respond to contingency codes and alarms.
• Perform various clerical duties as assigned.
• Work all shifts 24/7 as required.

POSITION TITLE: SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR

DEPARTMENT: SWITCHBOARD

POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND

STATUS: PART-TIMEREASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENT

WAGE RATE: $25.900 - $27.915

Reporting to the Manager, Registration and Switchboard, the Switchboard Operator is responsible for answering and directing incoming telephone calls to the Brightshores hospitals. Duties include but are not limited to: all paging services (overhead and Spok Messenger); parking lot(s) entry and exit gates; visitor information. This position also responds to contingency codes and alarms, monitors alarms, and various clerical duties as assigned. This position is required to work all shifts 24/7.
