Interior Health’s Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, BC, is hiring a casual Switchboard Operator Admitting Clerk. The role covers rotating day and evening shifts (07:00–15:00, 09:00–17:00, 13:30–21:30) as a casual employee with opportunities to grow into permanent roles.

The position involves greeting and registering patients, processing payments, and managing various clerical duties, with competitive wages and shift premiums.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 is required.
• Typing test of 5 minutes at 45+ NWPM within the past 48 months is required.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology is required.
• Two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• A cover letter stating availability for days and on-call casual work is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate the switchboard and public address/paging systems.
• Register patients and confirm appointments with physicians, nursing units and patients.
• Receive payments for patient bills and sundry accounts; balance daily cash; prepare bank deposits and cash reports; maintain petty cash.
• Completing data entry for pre-admissions, admissions, discharges and transfers.
• Receives patients/visitors and directs them to appropriate areas.

Cariboo Memorial Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Switchboard Operator Admitting Clerk to join their team in Williams Lake, B.C.!

This position works rotating days, evenings 07:00 to 15:00, 09:00 to 17:00, 13:30 to 21:30

What Will You Work On?

This position performs a variety of clerical duties associated with operating the switchboard, receiving and registering patients, processing accounts receivable such as:

• Operating switchboard and public address/paging systems;


• Patient registration;


• Confirming hospital procedural appointments with physicians, nursing units and patients;


• Receiving payments for a variety of patient bills and sundry accounts, balances daily cash, prepare bank deposits and cash reports, maintain petty cash accounts;


• Clerical duties - typing, compiling and distributing various documents/lists/schedules, completing data entry for pre-admissions, admissions, discharges, and transfers;


• Receives patients/visitors and directs to appropriate areas.
