POSITION TITLE: SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR

DEPARTMENT: SWITCHBOARD

POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND

UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU – CLERICAL

STATUS: PART-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE OCTOBER 2026)

WAGE RATE: $24.414 - $26.313

Reporting to the Manager, Registration and Switchboard, the Switchboard Operator is responsible for answering and directing incoming telephone calls to the Brightshores hospitals. Duties include but are not limited to: all paging services (overhead and Spok Messenger); parking lot(s) entry and exit gates; visitor information. This position also responds to contingency codes and alarms, monitors alarms, and performs various clerical duties as assigned. This role requires working all shifts 24/7.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

• High School Diploma and relevant business office experience and/or equivalent business education
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy

• Experience working on a switchboard preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Word (to be tested)
• Typing speed of 30 wpm (to be tested)
