Qualifications

Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.

Summary of responsibilities

The Switchboard Clerk will respond to Switchboard calls, inquiries, emergency codes and lifeline calls; act as a receptionist; perform call-in functions for nursing and stand-by personnel from diagnostic areas as required; book after hour emergency surgical cases; perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements of the job
  1. Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  2. Typing speed of 35 w.p.m.
  3. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
  4. Organizational abilities with initiative and the ability to work unsupervised
  5. Good interpersonal skills and strong team orientation
  6. Previous reception experience
  7. Good communication and customer service/public relation skills
  8. Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
  9. Demonstrated regular/punctual attendance
  10. Functional level in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French – and testing completed)
