Role and responsibilities

What is the Institutional Sales, Canada group responsible for?

The team is responsible for devising strategies and executing on plans that build market share and increase AUM through multiple product offerings.

What is the SVP, Institutional Sales responsible for?

As an integral sales leader, the SVP has ownership of a geographical mandate for institutional market sales and will expand Franklin Templeton’s success in Canada. This role oversees a large territory including Quebec, Montreal and Eastern Canada.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of an SVP, Institutional Sales?

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to grow market share in Ontario and Western Canada.
  • Leverage expertise in institutional markets and FTI products to identify and qualify client needs, focusing on pension plans and institutional buyers.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and proactively promote products and capabilities.
  • Continuously prospect and adapt strategies to changing market conditions, collaborating with the sales team for transparent communication.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure solutions meet client and business objectives.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and represent Franklin Templeton at conferences and events as an institutional investment expert.
Qualifications and experience

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

  • A bachelor’s or higher degree in business, finance, marketing, or a related field and at least 10 years of sales or business development experience in institutional investments. CFA certification is beneficial but not required.
  • Proven leadership in sales, strong financial knowledge, technical expertise, and deep familiarity with pension plans (DB/DC), endowments, foundations, and the Canadian institutional investment landscape.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex portfolios, understanding distribution channels and evolving models, and working collaboratively with sales and product teams to deliver impactful client-focused solutions.
  • Record of developing effective sales plans, driving increased sales and market share through strategic thinking, analytical skills, and persuasive negotiation.
  • Recognized for the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly, engage in impactful dialogue, and build consensus among diverse audiences, earning credibility and respect across all professional interactions.
