Job summary

FulcrumAir Inc. in Calgary, AB is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our cross-functional team. This in-office role with eligibility to work from home one day per week will support development of new products and continuous improvement of existing robotic systems.

Qualifications

  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or related CAD software.
  • GD&T, DFM & DFA principles understood.
  • Experience in change management, BOM management and sourcing.
  • Methodical, organized approach to continuous improvement.
  • Practical troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on continuous improvement of existing robotic fleet.
  • Plan and execute testing and validation on the robotic fleet.
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation (BOMs, assembly drawings).
  • Provide guidance to technicians during the equipment assembly.
  • Provide technical leadership to field operations as required.
  • Conduct root cause analyses of in-field issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Roll out changes to the fleet (Service bulletins, ECOs) and coordinate with engineers, maintainers and operators.
  • Perform mechanical design and drafting tasks.
  • Assist in procurement through technical support.
  • Support production runs and R&D builds as required.

Position Overview: The chosen candidate will join our cross‑functional engineering team, working with mechanical, electrical and software disciplines to support the development of new products and the continuous improvement of our existing product line. This is an in‑office position at our SE Calgary facility with eligibility to work from home one day per week, dependent on specific project deadlines and ad‑hoc requirements.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Focus on continuous improvement of existing robotic fleet
  • Planning and execution of testing and validation efforts on existing robotic fleet
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation (BOMs, assembly drawings, etc.)
  • Provide guidance to technicians during the equipment assembly
  • Provide technical leadership to field operations as required
  • Conduct root cause analysis of in‑field issues and drive corrective actions
  • Strategically manage the rollout of changes to the existing fleet (Service bulletins, ECOs, etc.)
  • Coordinate change rollout with cross functional team including engineers, maintainers and operators
  • Perform mechanical design and drafting tasks
  • Assist in product procurement through technical support
  • Support production runs and R&D builds as required

Required Qualifications:

  • BSc. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, or related CAD software
  • Solid understanding of mechanical drafting principles, G & D, T, DFM & DFA
  • Experience in change management, BOM management and component sourcing
  • Ability to demonstrate a methodical and organized approach to continuous improvement
  • Practical troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills

Beneficial Skills (Nice to Haves):

  • Project management experience
  • Hands‑on experience with basic fabrication, mechanical assembly, wire harness assembly
  • Experience working with an ERP system, such as Odoo
  • Experience in design or manufacturing of electrical systems
  • Experience with Altium Designer
  • Keen interest in drones, robotics, and unmanned systems
