Job summary

Promise Robotics in Calgary, AB is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of cutting-edge robotic manufacturing solutions. You will apply first-principles design, develop 3D models, create manufacturing drawings, and own the product design process from concept to release.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with suppliers and customers, and help establish robust supply chains while ensuring compliance with CSA, ISO, ANSI, and OSHA standards. Calgary-based, on-site role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics) with P.Eng. designation.
  • 5+ years of robotic systems integration experience in a custom automation environment.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude with passion for engineering, robotics, and automation.
  • Extensive experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Portfolio of automation projects with significant contributions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of cutting-edge solutions using first-principles approaches.
  • Create complex 3D models using pneumatics, motion, materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Deliver manufacturing drawings, specs and BOMs; own product design phase.
  • Design systems compliant with CSA, ISO, ANSI, OSHA, and customer standards.
  • Establish robust supply chains and manage low-cost manufacturing partnerships.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, suppliers, and customers to implement procedures and documentation.
  • Plan equipment build schedules for project launches and maintain timelines.
  • Evaluate mechanical products for feasibility and support continual product development.
  • Assist with equipment installations, maintenance, and repairs as needed.
  • Lead and participate in mechanical design reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll do:
  • Lead the design ofcutting-edgesolutionsusing a first-principles approach
  • Gather design constraints and produce complex 3D models based on a knowledge of pneumatics, motion (motor control & drives), materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings, specifications, and release bills of materials; own all aspects of the product design phase
  • Design systems for compliance to applicable standards (i.e., CSA, ISO, ANSI, OSHA, customer specific)
  • Establish robust supply chains and manage low-cost manufacturing partnerships
  • Confer with colleagues, suppliers, contractors, customers, and relevant authorities to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and createappropriate technicaldocumentation, including machine manuals
  • Set goals, develop, andmaintainequipment build schedules for project launches
  • Research and evaluate mechanical products for application feasibility by applying knowledge of engineering principles for our continual product development
  • Support equipment installations, operation, maintenance, and repairs to ensure that machinery is installed and functioning according to intended specifications
  • Lead andparticipatein mechanical design reviews
  • Other duties as assigned
What you'll need to succeed:
  • Bachelor or Master’sdegree inengineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics); P.Eng. designationrequired
  • 5+ years of robotic systems integration experiencein a custom automation environment
  • Practical hands-on mechanical aptitude and a sincere passion for engineering, robotics, and automation
  • Extensive experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • A portfolio of automation projects in which you made significant contributions
  • A willingness toparticipatein all technical areas of the business as needed to solve complex problems and achieve business impact
  • The capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously andmaintaintiming deadlines
  • Experience in mentoring junior engineers and designers
  • Ability toworkonsiteat ourCalgaryfactory
  • Ability to travel internationally
