Job summary

Cascades is seeking a Sustainable Development Advisor in Saint-Hubert to help drive recycling programs, improve material recovery, and support sustainability initiatives. You will work with clients, operations, and sales teams in a hybrid environment, travel about 10% to Ottawa, and contribute to meaningful environmental results.

Ideal candidates have a degree in environmental studies or related field, experience in recycling, and knowledge of LEED/BOMA Best or similar programs, plus strong

Qualifications

  • College or university degree in environmental studies, sustainable development, or related field is an asset.
  • Experience in recycling industry and Certified Waste Auditor certification are assets.
  • Knowledge of sustainability certifications such as LEED, BOMA Best, and similar programs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain recycling programs for national and local clients to improve quality and increase diversion.
  • Conduct waste and recycling assessments to identify opportunities for greater material recovery and support business development.
  • Support clients through site assessments, training sessions, quarterly reporting, and ongoing sustainability services.
  • Plan and conduct waste audits and support development and implementation of reduction action plans.
  • Manage non-conformance issues and ensure timely resolution with operations teams.
  • Prepare diversion reports and support EPR and sustainability initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Account Management and Operations while monitoring legislation and trends.

Your Role

As Sustainable Development Advisor, you'll take on real challenges that bring out your full potential. Your scope includes:

  • Coordinating and maintaining recycling programs for national and local clients to improve quality and increase waste diversion.
  • Conducting waste and recycling assessments to identify opportunities for greater material recovery and support business development activities.
  • Supporting clients through site assessments, training sessions, quarterly reporting, and ongoing sustainability services.
  • Planning and conducting waste audits and supporting the development and implementation of waste reduction action plans.
  • Managing non-conformance issues and ensuring timely resolution in collaboration with operations teams.
  • Preparing diversion reports and supporting Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and sustainability initiatives.
  • Collaborating with Sales, Account Management, and Operations teams while monitoring recycling legislation, emerging sustainability trends, and contract compliance through material audits.
What you bring

You're a natural fit for Sustainable Development Advisorif you have:

  • A college or university degree in environmental studies, sustainable development, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience in the recycling industry and Certified Waste Auditor certification are assets.
  • Knowledge of sustainability certifications such as LEED, BOMA Best, and similar programs.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, and Copilot, as well as visual design tools such as Canva.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Access to a vehicle, willingness to travel approximately 10% to Ottawa, Ontario, and fluency in both English and French.
