Job summary

Cascades in Saint-Hubert is hiring a Sustainable Development Advisor to help advance recycling programs and sustainability initiatives for national and local clients. You will coordinate diversion efforts, conduct assessments, and support site trainings and reporting to drive better environmental results.

Ideal candidates bring a degree in environmental studies or sustainable development, familiarity with recycling and certifications like LEED, and strong English/French communication.

Qualifications

• Degree in environmental studies or sustainable development is preferred.
• Experience in the recycling industry is a plus.
• Knowledge of LEED/BOMA Best certifications is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, Copilot).
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to travel about 10% to Ottawa, Ontario.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating and maintaining recycling programs for national and local clients to improve quality and increase waste diversion.
• Conducting waste and recycling assessments to identify opportunities for greater material recovery.
• Supporting clients through site assessments, training sessions, quarterly reporting, and ongoing sustainability services.
• Planning and conducting waste audits and supporting waste reduction action plans.
• Managing non-conformance issues and ensuring timely resolution with operations teams.
• Preparing diversion reports and supporting EPR and sustainability initiatives.
• Collaborating with Sales, Account Management, and Operations while monitoring legislation and contract compliance.

Your Role

As Sustainable Development Advisor, you’ll take on real challenges that bring out your full potential. Your scope includes:

• Coordinating and maintaining recycling programs for national and local clients to improve quality and increase waste diversion.
• Conducting waste and recycling assessments to identify opportunities for greater material recovery and support business development activities.
• Supporting clients through site assessments, training sessions, quarterly reporting, and ongoing sustainability services.
• Planning and conducting waste audits and supporting the development and implementation of waste reduction action plans.
• Managing non-conformance issues and ensuring timely resolution in collaboration with operations teams.
• Preparing diversion reports and supporting Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and sustainability initiatives.
• Collaborating with Sales, Account Management, and Operations teams while monitoring recycling legislation, emerging sustainability trends, and contract compliance through material audits.

What you bring

You're a natural fit for Sustainable Development Advisor if you have:

• A college or university degree in environmental studies, sustainable development, or a related field is an asset.
• Experience in the recycling industry and Certified Waste Auditor certification are assets.
• Knowledge of sustainability certifications such as LEED, BOMA Best, and similar programs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, and Copilot.
• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Access to a vehicle, willingness to travel approximately 10% to Ottawa, Ontario, and fluency in both English and French.
