Job summary

TULLOCH, a Sudbury‑based multi‑disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking a Survey Technician to support conventional surveying services, construction monitoring, and 3D laser scanning. The role reports to the Survey Crew Chief and offers a wage range of 27.00–32.00 CAD per hour.

Applicants should have a two‑year college program in Survey Technician or Civil Engineering Technician or equivalent, at least 3 years in the field, and proficiency with survey instruments and GPS gear.

Qualifications

  • Two-year college program in Survey Technician or Civil Engineering Technician or Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of surveying field experience.
  • Proficiency with survey instruments, calculators, levels, and GPS field equipment.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety; valid Class G driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in collecting field data using survey instruments, levels, and GPS field equipment.
  • Organize field equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure field equipment is maintained in good working order.
  • Demonstrate essential skills related to use of field equipment for job responsibilities.
  • Clear away brush and trees from lines of a survey as needed.

Based in Sudbury, ON, the Survey Technician will report to the Survey Crew Chief and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on conventional surveying services. You will be part of a team that provides a full range of traditional surveying services as well as construction monitoring, precision layout, and high-definition 3D laser scanning. This is an existing vacancy within the organization. The wage range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00 hourly.

What You’ll Do

As part of the TULLOCH Geomatics team, you will:

  • Assist in the collection of field data using various survey instruments, levels, and GPS field equipment
  • Organize field equipment and supplies
  • Ensure all field equipment is accounted for and maintained in good working order
  • Demonstrate the essential skills related to the use of all field equipment used to perform job responsibilities
  • Clear away bush and trees from lines of a survey as needed

What You Should Bring

The ideal candidate will have completed at least a two year college program in Survey Technician, Civil Engineering Technician or Technology, or have equivalent experience. Additionally, you should have:

  • At least 3 years experience working in the surveying field
  • Proficiency in the use of various survey instruments, calculators, levels, and GPS field equipment or have the aptitude to learn
  • High motivation with results-oriented focus
  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Unwavering commitment to health and safety in the workplace
  • A valid, Class G driver’s licence
