Job summary

Tulloch Engineering Inc. in Timmins, Ontario seeks a Survey Crew Chief to support mining, construction and infrastructure projects. This 4-month contract requires strong field surveying skills, experience with GPS and Total Station equipment, and capacity to travel across Northern Ontario.

Qualifications

• At least three years of practical related work experience.
• Proficient in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting conventional and GPS survey equipment.
• Familiar with static control surveys, high-precision layout, and 1st order leveling techniques or willing to learn.
• Knowledge of Ontario survey acts, standards and regulations related to cadastral surveys.
• Travel frequently for site inspections and fieldwork, up to 75% of hours.
• Able to operate ATVs/UTVs/snowmobiles.

• Oversee QC of data collection and ensure complete field notes and downloads.
• Collect terrestrial scanning and UAV data.
• Interact with clients onsite and maintain safety procedures.
• Mentor and train new field staff.

Based in Timmins, the Survey Crew Chief will report to the Project Manager, Geomatics, and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on supporting mining, construction, and infrastructure development in Northern Ontario. You will be part of a team that provides a full range of surveying services including boundary retracement, construction layout, monitoring, and high-definition 3D laser scanning. This position is a new, 4-month contract with a wage range of $30.00 - $36.00 hourly.

What You’ll Do:

The Survey Crew Chief will be part of the TULLOCH Geomatics team. You will:

• Assess field and documentary evidence to perform boundary surveys


• Perform pre-engineering, topographic surveys


• Read and decipher design documents for basic layout calculations


• Perform high-precision surveys such as industrial layout, deformation monitoring, levelling, and static control network surveys


• Perform construction layout for anchor bolt locations, grid lines, formwork, concrete piers, and footings


• Collect field data using traditional survey instruments such as total station and high precision levels as well as GPS field equipment


• Oversee QC of data collection ensuring that field notes and daily downloads are complete


• Collect terrestrial scanning and UAV data


• Interact with clients while onsite


• Maintain safe workplace operations in compliance with our health and safety policies and procedures


• Mentor and train new field staff

Who You Are:

• You have at least three (3) years of practical related work experience


• You are proficient in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting conventional and GPS survey equipment or similar


• You are familiar with static control surveys, high-precision layout work, and 1st order levelling techniques (or are willing and able to learn)


• You have knowledge of Ontario survey evidence and the Acts, Standards, and Regulations as they relate to performing cadastral surveys


• You are willing to travel consistently for site inspections and fieldwork, including outside of the Timmins area. This role requires frequent travel, up to 75% of hours worked.


• You are proficient in the operation of ATVs/UTVs/snowmobiles


• You exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives


• You can pivot and alter approach or recommendations to accomplish desired results
