Job summary

GeoVerra is seeking a Survey Assistant in Regina, Saskatchewan, to spend significant time in the field on outdoor surveying projects. The role emphasizes learning, adaptability, and collaborative work with the crew to meet project timelines.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Geomatics or Civil Engineering Technology preferred.
• Previous experience in Surveying or related outdoor work.
• Willingness to travel regularly for client/project requirements.
• Ability to take directions and communicate effectively.
• Understanding of survey methodologies is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver record.
• First Aid, H2S and CSTS training is an asset.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per Canadian safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Arrive on time and prepared for the assigned task and shift.
• Assist with tasks, track and maintain tools, equipment and materials at project sites, office and in crew vehicles.
• Support a positive and professional team atmosphere and act as a positive ambassador for GeoVerra.
• Assist Crew Chief in achieving project timelines and deliverables.
• Complete mandatory safety training and practice competent operation of all equipment and tasks.
• Adhere to safety requirements of the client, OH&S and GeoVerra Safety program.
• Participate in Emergency Response Planning, Hazard Assessments, Job Safety Analysis and daily tailgate meetings.

You also have a strong handle on equipment and field tools, with a healthy respect for the outdoors, while timely completing the task at hand.

What you will do:

• Arrive at work on time and prepared for the assigned task and shift.
• Assist with various tasks as required, track and maintain housekeeping of tools, equipment and materials at project sites, office and in crew vehicles.
• Support a positive and professional team atmosphere and acts as a positive ambassador for the company.
• Assist Crew Chief in achieving project timelines and deliverables.
• Complete mandatory safety training and practice competent operation of all equipment and tasks.
• Adhere to, without exception, the safety requirements of the client, OH&S and the GeoVerra Safety program.
• Actively participate in Emergency Response Planning, Hazard Assessment, Job Safety Analysis development, daily tailgate meetings and comply with all safety requirements.

What you will bring:

• Diploma/Degree in Geomatics or Civil Engineering Technology, or related discipline preferred, not required.
• Previous experience in Surveying or other related types of work in the great outdoors.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly for the client, project, and GeoVerra requirements.
• Commitment to respond to situations that occur outside traditional working hours.
• Capacity to take directions and communicate effectively.
• An understanding of survey methodologies is considered an asset.
• A valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract and background check.
• Completed training and valid tickets in First Aid, H2S and CSTS safety training is an asset.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace

Job conditions

• Travel may be required and possible out-of-town work.
• Ability to carry, lift and push 50lbs on a regular basis.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
