Job summary

Scarborough Health Network is seeking an Anaesthesia Assistant to support the anaesthesiology team in our surgical suites. The AA provides care to stable patients under supervision and assists with inductions in the OR, including work in block room, under the direction of an anaesthesiologist.

Required are a related health discipline degree, CCAA, and a regulated health profession; BLS and ACLS current; 5 years OR experience with 2 years AA preferred; strong communication and collaboration

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in a related health discipline.
• Certified Clinical Anaesthesia Assistant (CCAA).
• Member of a regulated health care profession (e.g., RN, RRT).
• Post graduate diploma/certificate in Anaesthesia Assistant from an accredited program.
• Knowledge of anaesthesiology, hemodynamics and equipment.
• 5 years multi-service OR experience; 2 years AA preferred.
• BLS and ACLS current within required timeframe.
• Strong communication, teamwork and clinical judgment.

Responsibilities

• Provide anaesthesia care to stable surgical patients under supervision.
• Assist in block room and with inductions in the operating room.
• Support anaesthesiologist; ensure safety and device readiness.
• Maintain documentation and equipment readiness; report hazards.
