What’s the role?

As a Surgical Ophthalmology Account Manager, you will work with a dedicated team that plays a vital role in Carl Zeiss Canada Limited. Showcase your skills and experience with process enhancement.

The Surgical Ophthalmology Account Manager is responsible for generating new business sales and profits (P&L) in a specific territory. You will commit to an annual sales plan, set objectives, forecast orders, and expected revenue monthly. Developing excellent product knowledge and awareness of market conditions is essential. You must report activities weekly and represent the company with the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. Communicating market trends, ideas, and competitive activities to management is also key.

  • Achieve or exceed yearly revenue and profit quotas (P&L) for your region.
  • Manage the entire sales process, including lead generation, opportunity development, closing, installation, and post-sale support.
  • Identify and engage key stakeholders such as surgeons, OR directors, procurement teams, and hospital administrators.
  • Prospect and convert new customers while maintaining and growing existing accounts.
  • Conduct in-depth product demonstrations highlighting features and clinical benefits of surgical microscopes.
  • Make scheduled personalized sales demonstrations to the Medical Doctors (MD) market in your region.
  • Provide technical support and training to surgeons and OR staff on product applications.
  • Initiate contact with potential clients through cold calls to generate new business opportunities.
  • Stay updated on ophthalmic surgical trends, competitors, and industry advancements.
  • Utilize territory records and other information to organize, plan, execute, and measure results efficiently.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key accounts and decision-makers.
  • Partner with marketing, clinical specialists, and customer support teams to enhance customer experience.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by providing consultative solutions tailored to surgeons' needs.
  • Manage sales pipeline, forecast revenue, and track performance against targets.
  • Use CRM tools to document interactions and sales activities.
  • Educate and follow up with Medical Doctors and staff on product operation, utilization, and application to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provide timely, accurate communication to management regarding sales and activities.
  • Assist in market launches and new product introductions.
  • Develop synergy opportunities among team members, companies, and partners.
  • Complete all paperwork and information requests promptly.
  • Support processing of customer orders and deliveries as needed.
  • Maintain good relationships with colleagues and support personnel.
  • Adhere to company and ISO 9001 processes and procedures.
  • Comply with employment laws.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field (health, biology, etc.)
  • 3-5 years of sales experience in healthcare; ophthalmology experience is an asset.
  • Proactive, results-driven, with a hunter mindset.
  • High technical and clinical product knowledge.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and understand ophthalmic surgical environments.
  • Strong organizational, communication, negotiation, and diplomacy skills.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office and CRM tools.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and willingness to travel (up to 70%, including to the U.S.).
