Job summary

Sinai Health, Mount Sinai Hospital, is seeking an experienced Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in Surgical Oncology to provide direct patient and family-centered care across a range of conditions. The unit specializes in postoperative care for GI, breast, and urology surgeries.

You will perform physical assessments, administer medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, pharmacists, social workers, and clinical nurse specialists.

Qualifications

• Currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in good standing.
• Graduate of a CNO-approved Practical Nursing program.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient and family-centered care for Surgical Oncology patients.
• Perform physical assessments on patients.
• Administer medications and provide associated care (wound care, IVs, drains, prepping for procedures).
• Attend nursing rounds and participate in patient/family meetings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (doctors, pharmacists, social workers, etc.).
• Apply a broad range of nursing skills and equipment (CADD pumps, chest tubes, central lines, feeding tubes, TPN).
• Mentor learners and other health professionals.
• Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required.
