Qualifications

• Completion of Practical Nursing Diploma required.
• Current General Class Registration (Practising) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current BLS Certification.
• Minimum one year of Operating Room clinical experience.
• Post Diploma RPN Perioperative Nursing Certificate required.
• Neurosurgery, Orthopedics or Ophthalmology experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ORNAC/AORN Standards is an asset.
• Strong communication skills in English; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide autonomous perioperative nursing care for stable patients.
• Collaborate with the care team to coordinate and communicate patient care activities.
• Document observations, assessments and care provision promptly.
• Contribute to discharge and transition planning to facilitate continuity of care.
• Engage in ongoing learning and reflective practice to advance perioperative nursing.
