Job summary

Linck Child, Youth and Family Supports is establishing a qualified candidate pool for current and future casual vacancies on the Supported Living Service Worker team.

The incumbent(s) will support children/youth 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with day, afternoon, and midnight shifts, including weekends and holidays. Staff provide care, supervision, and programming to youth awaiting placement, collaborating with the care team to promote positive growth.

Qualifications

  • Diploma from a community college in child and youth work.

  • Up to three months related experience.
  • Current First Aid, CPR and CPI certificates.
  • Computer and keyboarding skills and word-processing experience.
  • Tact and discretion in dealing with residents.
  • Ability to motivate and emotionally support clients.
  • Valid G driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • French language is an asset.
  • Preference for experience with diverse cultures and communities.

Job description

Linck Child, Youth and Family Supports (‘Linck’) is establishing a qualified candidate pool for current and future casual (no guarantee of hours) vacancies on the Supported Living Service Worker team.

The incumbent(s) supports children/youth 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Staff can expect to work day, afternoon, and midnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Staff provide care, supervision, programming, and guidance to children and youth awaiting placement, live-in treatment, or alternate living options. Through the efficient management of the placement in an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance, the staff will provide structure and security geared to promoting positive growth and development in the children and youth while collaborating with other members of the care team as needed.

Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a two (2) or more year diploma from a community college working with children and youth; preference will be given to Child and Youth Worker diploma.
  • Up to three (3) months related experience.
  • Current First Aid, CPR and CPI certificate.
  • Computer and keyboarding skills, extensive use of word-processing programs.
  • Tact and discretion is required to deal with or settle requests, interpreting or clarification of information with residents.
  • Support clients requiring motivation/emotional support.
  • A valid G driver’s license.
  • Use of a personal vehicle.
  • The ability to communicate in French is an asset.
  • Preference will be given to persons with a strong understanding and extensive experience working with other cultures, heritages and traditions.
  • A commitment to developing the highest quality culturally-appropriate service possible for the various communities that we serve.
