Job description

OPEN COMPETITION

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Woodland Wellness Centre is inviting applications for the following positions based out of the Treatment Department in La Ronge, SK:

Support Worker - Treatment (2 – Permanent Full-Time, Casuals)

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:

  1. Welcome participants to the Centre, conduct admission process, and provide initial orientation;
  2. Supervise and direct participants as required, following WWC policies and procedures;
  3. Support participants in their homework and activities;
  4. Coordinate fire drills and facilitate evacuation drills as needed;
  5. Maintain sidewalks in the absence of maintenance staff (shoveling and/or snow blowing);
  6. Support participants in First Nations cultural and non-cultural activities that support healing session objectives (e.g., smudging, crafts, recreation, videos, cultural activities, drumming);
  7. Monitor and document participant-administered medications and personal belongings;
  8. Transport participants to appointments, activities, and meetings, sometimes under challenging road conditions (e.g., snow and ice);
  9. Report and record critical incidents according to Centre policies and procedures;
  10. Maintain daily activity logs, communication books, and shift-change reports;
  11. Prepare participant-related forms and ensure all are completed;
  12. Perform other work-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  1. Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
  2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position;
  3. Knowledge and understanding of First Nations customs and traditions is an asset;
  4. Sobriety and abstinence from drugs and gaming are strongly preferred;
  5. Experience working in a First Nations health or treatment center is an asset;
  6. Effective verbal and written communication skills;
  7. A positive and professional approach towards participants, staff, and the public;
  8. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills, along with excellent interpersonal skills;
  9. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and own reliable vehicle;
  10. Ability to provide a recent, satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and SGI Driver’s Abstract.
