Job summary

Powell River Educational Services Society is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to assist tenants in a busy, supportive housing setting at Blackberry Creek. You will help with daily living, encourage independence, and foster community connections while handling sensitive information with discretion.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1 year of relevant experience, and knowledge of Housing First and harm reduction.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a safe, supportive living environment by assisting tenants with daily living and promoting independence.
• Collaborate with housing, maintenance, janitorial, and kitchen staff to support tenants and report safety concerns.
• Work on site at Blackberry Creek and report to Housing Services Manager.

Location: Powell River/qathet Regional District

Schedule: Day Shifts (8am-8pm) and Night Shifts (8pm-8am)

Salary Or Wage: $29.76 - $31.64 per hour plus applicable shift premiums

Start Date: As soon as possible

Working Condition and Physical Requirements

• 12-hour day and night shifts in a fast-paced supportive housing environment
• Attends to medical emergencies including overdoses, injuries, and mental health crises
• Regularly navigates stairs and uses industrial cleaning products and equipment
• Safely lifts up to 50lbs
• Collaborates as part of a team with high expectations for accountability, inclusivity, and respect
