Job summary

Ceredigion County Council Direct Payment Support Service in Hastings/East Sussex is seeking dedicated Support Workers to join our care home team. Full and part-time opportunities are available; sponsorship is not provided.

You will support individuals with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour, and mental health needs, including personal care, mobility, meals, and community activities. Training and safeguarding procedures are provided to ensure safe, dignified support.

Responsibilities

• Support personal care: washing, bathing, dressing, toileting and maintaining dignity.
• Administer medication safely, following training and organisational guidance.
• Support residents with mobility needs, including saf e use of hoists, wheelchairs, slings and other aids.
• Provide hands-on support for wheelchair users (transfers, positioning, pressure care awareness).
• Act as a key worker: keep care plans, risk assessments and daily records accurate and up to date.
• Assist with appointments, shopping, budgeting and financial support as required.
• Prepare meals, support dietary needs, and assist with household tasks (laundry, cleaning, bed changes).
• Encourage and enable meaningful activities, community access, hobbies and social inclusion.
• Identify risks, contribute to risk management plans and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Work collaboratively with families, advocates and professionals; attend reviews and meetings.
• Report significant changes in health, behaviour or circumstances to the Area Manager promptly.
• Attend mandatory training, supervision and vocational qualifications; implement learning.
• Be flexible to work across supported living sites and the residential care home as needed.
• Promote independence and autonomy while ensuring safety and wellbeing.

You must be able to work flexibly, between service locations, covering a mixture of shifts during the week, weekends, night shifts and sleep ins.
