Job summary

Wellways Care TA Centred Living Care and Support in Manor Park is seeking a male support worker to provide person-centred care to individuals with learning disabilities who may display challenging behaviour. The role focuses on promoting independence, dignity, safety and quality of life through daily living supports and engaging social activities.

The position is permanent, full-time, on-site, with a noted hourly rate of £12.71.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Support daily living tasks such as meal preparation, household chores, and medication.
  • Encourage choice, independence and active participation in activities.
  • Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and follow risk assessments.
  • Use de-escalation techniques to respond calmly and safely to challenging behaviour.
  • Record and report incidents accurately in line with organisational procedures.
  • Develop trusting relationships with service users, families, and professionals.
  • Use appropriate communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS, visual aids) where required.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to care reviews.
  • Maintain accurate records of care, medication, and incident reports.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies, reporting concerns promptly.
  • Follow health and safety protocols and infection control standards.
  • Use equipment and restraint techniques (if required) safely and in compliance with training.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and assist new or junior staff.
  • Attend training sessions and supervisions to maintain professional development.

- Use de-escalation techniques to respond calmly and safely to challenging behaviour.
