Shannex Incorporated is seeking a Full-time Support Services Attendant for the West Bedford Transitional Health team. You will assist with housekeeping, laundry, and general facility support to help patients transition safely from hospital to home.

Responsibilities include cleaning, laundry, inventory, and ensuring supplies are stocked. Candidates should have at least a high school diploma and one year of related experience, with First Aid/ CPR as an asset.

Qualifications

  • High School/ GED completion.
  • Minimum of one year experience in commercial housekeeping and/or laundry.
  • Ability to learn and work in fast paced environment.
  • Ability to safely use chemical cleaning agents and equipment.
  • Experience communicating with customers to meet needs in a polite, courteous manner.
  • First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism in French and English considered an asset.
  • Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Dusts, cleans and polishes furniture, counters, shelving, walls, and window/door ledges.
  • Sweeps, dusts, and wets mops floors.
  • Cleans sinks, toilets and bath facilities.
  • Fills and replenishes supplies in resident rooms and units.
  • Empties and cleans trash receptacles and handles trash area.
  • Sorts laundry and operates washing/drying equipment.
  • Counts linen used and tracks by area; maintains organization.
  • Performs inventory and replenishes cleaning supplies.

About The Opportunity
  • Dusts, cleans and polishes furniture, counters, shelving, walls, and window/door ledges.
  • Sweeps, dusts, and wet mops floors
  • Cleans sinks, toilets and bath facilities
  • Fills and replenishes supplies in resident rooms, nursing units, and rest rooms.
  • Empties and cleans trash receptacles and places trash in compactor and/or trash pickup area
  • Sorts laundry into appropriate piles based on the type of laundry (linens, mops, personal clothing)
  • Operates washing machine using proper washing formulas
  • Operates dryer and extractor; loads clean, wet laundry into the machine, sets dials so the laundry is dried or damp-dried appropriately and unloads the machine
  • Sorts clean laundry into appropriate baskets or racks; counts linen needed for each area as per linen quota and puts on cart; notes name tags on resident clothing and puts on correct rack
  • Checks laundry for tears, holes, missing buttons, etc. and forwards clothing needing repair to the seamstress.
  • Completes inventory on a regular basis
  • Order supplies as requiredReplenishes laundry cleaning chemicals as required
About You
  • High School/ GED completion
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in commercial housekeeping and/or laundry required
  • Ability to learn and work in fast paced environment
  • Ability to safely use chemical cleaning agents and equipment
  • Experience working and communicating with internal and external customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner
  • Proof of valid First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset
  • Bilingualism in the French and English languages considered an asset
  • Previous experience in working in a long-term care an asset
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check, and where applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to appointment
