Job summary

Umbrella-Famil in Hamilton, Ontario is seeking a Childcare Centre Supply Educator (Casual, Part-time). This role supports classrooms by assisting full-time educators, planning activities, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment for children.

You will work Monday to Friday between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with RECE rates depending on role; the position offers flexible hours and multiple locations across Hamilton.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of direct experience with children, or related childcare experience.
• Diploma in ECE or related field is preferred.
• Availability for 3+ days per week, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM–6:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to assigned childcare centres to support full- and part-time staff.
• Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities to support children's growth per How Does Learning Happen.
• Maintaining a safe, nurturing environment and collaborating with Hamilton Wentworth District School Board staff.

Location: Lincoln Alexander; 50 Ravenbury Drive,Hamilton, ONL8W 2B5

Schedule: Monday to Friday between 7:00am to 6:00pm shifts

• RECE: $27.79per hour
• Non-RECE: $23.79per hour

Who We’re Looking For

Experience

• Minimum 1-year experience working directly with children, OR related experience in a childcare setting, working with school-age children is preferred but not required

Education

• Diploma in a field related to childcare such as Early Childhood Education is an advantage
• A Diploma in Child & Youth Worker, Child and Youth Care, OCT, Education Assistant, Social Worker, or Recreation & Leisure may also be considered.

Certifications

• Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) is preferred but not required
• Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Up-to-date immunization for TB, Tetanus, and MMR

Skills

• Knowledge of the Ministry of Education’s How Does Learning Happen framework is an asset.

Characteristics

• Willingness to work in an on-call capacity with flexible scheduling
• Availability to work a minimum of 3 days per week, Monday to Friday, within the 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM time frame.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, flexible environment with minimal supervision
• Flexibility and adaptability to be assigned in multiple locations, with minimal supervision.
