Job summary

SMARTFOX is seeking a Supply Chain professional to plan and optimize the flow of materials and finished goods across sourcing, production, and distribution. You will forecast demand, develop supply plans, and manage inventory to balance service levels with costs.

The role requires strong analytical skills, Excel proficiency, and experience with ERP/planning tools; experience with cross-border shipments and customs is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of supply chain fundamentals: demand planning, inventory management, procurement, and logistics
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling)
  • Clear communication and negotiation skills with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams
  • Calm under pressure when shipments slip and deadlines tighten
  • Degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. We value problem-solving over pedigree.
  • Internships, co-ops, warehouse or logistics experience, and military logistics experience all count
  • Certifications or coursework: APICS CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, Lean Six Sigma, or the SCMP designation (we support it)

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage the flow of materials and finished goods across sourcing, production, warehousing, and delivery
  • Build demand forecasts and supply plans from sales data, market signals, and planning tools, including AI-assisted forecasting
  • Manage inventory to balance service levels, cost, and cash, and cut stockouts, excess stock, and obsolescence
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers, run supplier scorecards, and build backup sourcing so no single failure stops us
  • Manage cross-border shipments between Canada, the US, and overseas, including customs documentation, Incoterms, and CUSMA/USMCA origin requirements
  • Work with customs brokers, carriers, and freight forwarders to control transit time, duties, and landed cost
  • Model the impact of tariffs, duty changes, and trade disruptions, and recommend sourcing or routing changes
  • Place and track purchase orders, expedite critical shipments, and resolve delays and shortages
  • Work in ERP and planning systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Kinaxis, or Blue Yonder
  • Analyze data with Excel, SQL, Power BI, or Tableau to find savings, risks, and trends
  • Support sales and operations planning (S&OP) so sales, finance, and operations work from one plan
  • Lead Lean and continuous improvement projects that remove waste and cost
  • Partner with procurement, manufacturing, quality, finance, and customer service teams
  • Promotion criteria are written down at every level, with regular career conversations. Many specialists have moved into supply chain management, procurement leadership, trade compliance, and logistics roles.
