Job summary

Loblaw Companies Limited in Ontario is seeking an Operations Dispatcher to manage the day shift (10:00-18:00) for load planning and driver assignments. The role requires coordinating with drivers, reviewing loads, and ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining safety and service standards.

You will also oversee shift handovers, use multiple systems, and collaborate with a diverse team to optimize transportation operations across non-retail and retail loads.

• Provide update to the next shift with critical information.
• Answer incoming calls as needed.
• Build and lead diverse teams fostering inclusiveness.

Shift: Monday to Friday 10:00-18:00

What you’ll do:

• Obtain update from prior shift (including DP times, load types, non-retail load update, other critical information)
• Review operational +/-, identify labour required by load time availability
• Review emails, confirm all loads are printed and drivers are assigned a match (reconcile), ensure loads are being completed
• Sort time sheets by driver Hours of Service (HOS) availability (fresh or return)
• Organize retail loads, non-retail loads and consolidate
• Select drivers based on operational needs and assign suitable route
• Assign drivers via driver app (see Driver App process for details)
• Provide update to following shift upon their arrival (including DP times, load types, non-retail load update, other critical information)
• Answer incoming calls as needed
• Building and leading diverse teams that foster a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging

What you’ll need:

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with various individuals, from upper management to drivers
• Ability to work in multiple systems and applications, with a quick ability to learn
• Teammate, who is willing to assist others when needed
• Above average decision making skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Prior experience in a transportation environment is preferred
