Job summary

YMCA BC in Prince George is seeking a part-time Supervisor, Skating Services to coordinate skating programs, schedule staff, manage payroll, and ensure exceptional customer service within municipal recreation facilities.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of supervisory experience, a valid Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED, reliable transportation, and proven ability to handle invoicing and administrative tasks while collaborating with school groups and city staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' related experience.
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Proven administrative task achievement.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Provide 3 satisfactory references.
  • Criminal Record check with Vulnerable Sector within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Staff scheduling and payroll management.
  • Invoicing and school group communications.
  • Coordinate skating programs and bookings.
  • Communicate concerns with Director and City staff.
  • Collaborate with Marketing for social posts and mailers.
  • Provide staff coverage when needed.
  • Plan and facilitate special events.
  • Ensure supplies and equipment are available.
  • Address refunds and customer service issues.
  • Mentor Cashiers and Ice Attendants.
  • Cash management procedures.

Job description

Location: Elksentre Arena -4833 Heather Rd, Prince George, BC V2K 5Y3

Kin 2 Arena - 2181 Ospika Boulevard, Prince George BC V2N6Z1

Terms: Part-Time, Temporary

Hours: 15 hours per week

Shift: Shifts times vary between mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Must be available at least 4 times per week

Start Date: As soon as possible

End Date: April 2, 2027

Salary: $26.65 per hour

Reports To: Director, Municipal Operations

The Supervisor, Skating Services will have a passion for skating and community recreation, strong leadership skills, and proven experience in program coordination and staff supervision. Responsibilities include scheduling and payroll for staff, coordinating skating programs, managing invoicing and communications, and ensuring excellent customer service.

Major Responsibilities
  • Staff scheduling and payroll
  • Invoicing and communication with School groups
  • Communicate concerns with Director and City staff, such as required maintenance
  • Work with the YMCA Marketing and Communications team to make social media posts, newsletters and posters/flyers
  • Provide staff coverage when needed
  • Plan and facilitate special events
  • Ensure staff have necessary supplies and equipment
  • Respond to concerns, refund requests and customer service issues
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to Cashiers and Ice Attendants
  • Cash management
Qualification
  • At least 2 years experience in a related position
  • Possess a valid Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED certificate
  • Have access to reliable transportation
  • Demonstrated achievement of administrative tasks
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
