Job summary

Prince George Family YMCA is hiring a part-time cleaner/maintenance helper. You will perform daily cleaning, support the Maintenance and Housekeeping Team, and handle grounds and basic repairs.

Shifts include evenings (5:30pm–1:00am) at the Prince George facility. Qualifications include First Aid with CPR-C, WHMIS, prior experience in a recreation or health-services setting is a plus, and ability to meet physical demands.

Qualifications

  • A combination of experience and training related to building maintenance and cleaning.
  • Standard First Aid with CPR-C (valid within 3 years).
  • WHMIS Certification.
  • Experience in recreation or health services facility is an asset.
  • Must meet physical demands (walking, standing, lifting) in various climates.
  • Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search within 6 months prior to start date.
  • Three professional references.

Responsibilities

  • To perform the day-to-day cleaning of the YMCA as specified in the work schedule.
  • To support the Maintenance and Housekeeping Team.
  • Performing general maintenance duties such as grounds maintenance, minor construction and repair, painting.
  • Performing general housekeeping duties such as cleaning rooms, bathrooms, glass, fixtures, and stocking supplies.
  • To clean and maintain change rooms, bathrooms, shower and steam room facilities.
  • To clean and maintain the Fitness floor, studios, classrooms and childcare spaces.
  • Cleaning and servicing fitness and maintenance equipment.
  • Interact with members, staff and volunteers in a friendly, welcoming manner.
  • Work independently, consciously and safely.

Job description

Location: Prince George Family YMCA ( 2020 Massey Dr, Prince George, BC V2L 4V7)

Terms: Permanent Part-Time

Hours: 8-24 hours per week

Shift: Shifts vary but will include Evenings from 5:30pm - 1:00am

Salary: $18.30 per hour

Start Date: As soon as possible

Reports To: Manager, Facility Maintenance

Major Responsibilities
  • To perform the day-to-day cleaning of the YMCA as specified in the work schedule
  • To support the Maintenance and Housekeeping Team
  • Performing general maintenance duties such as grounds maintenance (lawns, gardens, snow clearing and sanding), minor/basic construction and repair, painting
  • Performing general housekeeping duties such as cleaning rooms and bathroom floors, glass, fixtures, servicing and stocking paper, soap and sanitizer dispensers.
  • To clean and maintain change rooms, bathrooms, shower and steam room facilities
  • To clean and maintain the Fitness floor, studios, classrooms and childcare spaces.
  • Cleaning and servicing fitness and maintenance equipment
  • To interact with members, staff and volunteers in a friendly, welcoming manner
  • Working independently, consciously and safely
Qualifications

  • Experience working in a recreation or health services related facility or similar public venue is an asset
  • Ability to meet & maintain the ongoing physical needs (walking, standing, lifting, push/pull, etc.) of the job, in all types of climates (indoor & outdoor)
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
  • Three professional references
